Tomasi police chief in Carmel, Calif.
MARQUETTE — Paul Tomasi, son of George and Bettey Tomasi, of Marquette, has been promoted to director of safety for the city of Carmel by the Sea, Calif.
According to an article in the Monterey Herald, Tomasi is a 21-year law enforcement veteran and member of the Carmel Police Department since May 2008.
Tomasi has also been named Carmel’s new chief of police and will assume both positions from Mike Calhoun, who retired after 32 years of service, the article said.
“As police chief, Tomasi is charged with managing the department, while as director of public safety he will have oversight over police, fire, ambulance services and the Emergency Operations Center,” the article said. “He began his dual roles Jan. 1.”
